A rare and beautifully carved 18th century English pine chimneypiece. The breakfront shelf above a cornice carved with a continuous dental and foliate motif. To the centre of the frieze a scallop shell flanked by acanthus fronds and ears of corn. The jambs in the form of elongated S-shaped scrolls decorated with bell flowers and acanthus leaves. Circa 1740.

Restored with new Carrara veined marble slips.
