A pair of 20th cast iron garden chairs designed by Edward Bawden and cast by the Bilston Iron Foundry in 1956. The chairs retain their original shaped teak slats and white enamelled finish.

Edward Bawden (1903-89) was a master printmaker, illustrator, watercolourist and designer and is today recognised as one of the most influential artists of his generation. He refused to see a distinction between fine art and commercial design and the innovative design of the pair of chairs with its geometrical panels is a perfect example of this approach.
