A very fine George III polished steel and cast iron fireback by Maurice Tobin (1710-1773) Leeds, circa 1760. A rectangular railed basket above a pierced fret flanked by angled tapering supports surmounted by flowerpot finials and engraved MAURICE TOBIN/LEEDS 1104. This beautifully engineered firegrate is made of the highest quality materials and the attention to detail is second to none. Restored.
