A 18th century English rococo chimneypiece
A very good mid-eighteenth century English carved and gilded rococo chimneypiece in the manner of Thomas Johnson. The jambs and frieze composed of finely carved and gilded tenuous rococo leaf scroll work on a plain pale painted background and with statuary marble shaped slips, the whole surmounted by a gilded and moulded shaped shelf. Restorations to gilding and marble slips.
